Being on Wheel of Fortune was one of the BEST experiences of my life! 🏆 I still can’t believe that I was chosen for this “once in a lifetime” opportunity, but I was, and you can too!! I always loved the show. I watched with my family growing up, and I was always told, “You are great at this game! You should be on this show!” It stayed in the back of my mind. There were times I would even look up local auditions in the early 2000’s, but I always found an excuse to put it off. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I finally worked up enough courage to submit my application last summer, and little did I know, I was in for the ride of my life. 🎢
I remember getting audition emails and showing my in-laws. It was pure happiness, disbelief, and lots of jumping up and down. Could this really happen for me?! I practiced my puzzle solving strategies by watching the show and downloading the app. I made it through the multiple screenings and then I got THE email. 📩 There it was, the email telling me that I was going to be on the show. They wanted ME! Keri from Gurnee, Illinois!
Next thing I know I was flying into LA ✈️ and heading 🚕 over to the studio. I met people from around the country, each one just as incredible as the next. The positive energy was palpable 💗 and we tried to take in the whole experience. But each moment was more special than the next. Everything I had seen through the years of watching Wheel on TV was coming to life. I reminded myself to stop, take a deep breath, and soak it all in. 🧘‍♀️ I, Keri, from Gurnee, Illinois was going to be on Wheel of Fortune. No one could have prepared me for this real Cinderella moment!
Then it was time to play... SO MUCH FUN!!! Every spin, every letter called, every puzzle solved made the experience that much more magical. The one puzzle that surprised me was the Movie Title. I’m sorry Tom Cruise! I should have paid more attention! I couldn’t figure out one word. One, little, 4 letter word. What was it??? All I kept thinking was I bet everyone is yelling at me on the other side of the TV. I didn’t know it so I kept spinning until finally… I landed on the dreaded BANKRUPT- womp womp! Even though I didn’t end up solving that puzzle, I still had the time of my life. And now I will never forget that title!! 😂
Lastly, meeting Pat Sajak and Vanna White was the cherry on top of the entire day. They were kind and down to earth. I’ll never forget it. Wheel was the dream 💫 I never knew I needed, until it came true! I am forever grateful to everyone who made it possible and I will always treasure the adventure it brought into my life. P.S. I can’t wait to watch with my children, Noah and Ally, who don’t know what happened in the end. I hope I make them proud! 🤞
