I'd given myself a 90-day time frame to receive a response about the show. The wait was soooo stressful — I was checking my email every hour! As it got closer to the 90 days, I would convince myself that I didn't make it so I should stop stressing. A few days later, I was right back in my inbox, every hour. 🤣
But I'll never forget the day I saw that email. I was at home with my 8-year-old daughter, cooking and on the phone with my sister. I read the email and immediately started screaming. My sister thought someone was robbing me because I couldn't speak for a minute. I finally gathered the words to tell her. My food wasn't even done, but I turned off the pots and sped over to my mother's house. My mom thought I was playing a cruel joke when I told her we were going to be on the show for Home for the Holidays week — together! We were both so happy. We hugged and danced around. I would go to her house for weeks and watch Wheel of Fortune after work. My mom is 74 years old, so I was honored to share this experience with her.
People often ask her how we made it on Wheel of Fortune, and I hear her respond, "I don't know how Kaneshia got us on there." She says it with the biggest smile, like it was magical. We didn't win big money, but we did leave with big smiles. Hopefully we get another chance someday to spin the wheel. The staff were awesome and treated us like we were the celebrities. I felt like a queen for the day.
